Sewage treatment plants

Sewage treatment plants are home to microorganisms that process waste water components and thus contribute to waste water treatment. The purified water can then be returned to the natural water cycle.

Explanation for children: All our waste water ends up in sewage treatment plants, where it is cleaned again. Microorganisms clean the water by filtering out the bad compounds until the water is clean again. The cleaned water can then be returned to the natural water cycle.
