Sono gli stessi microbi in tutto il mondo che si incastrano nel battistrada di una bicicletta? La bicicletta funge anche da vettore che diffonde gli organismi? Oppure la diversità dei diversi paesi e delle culture si riflette anche nella comunità del microcosmo suolo, che non rende mai noioso un viaggio attraverso 15 paesi? Nell’ambito della sua tesi di laurea magistrale, la studentessa Magdalena Nagler ha studiato i cambiamenti quotidiani del microbiota del battistrada della bicicletta pedalata da Innsbruck al Laos dall’artista-atleta Wolfgang Burtscher.
How does the composition of microorganismus collected in the thread of a bicycle tire change while biking around the globe? Or does the bicycle tire function as a vector of microorganisms? Maybe the richness of the microbial community is a mirror of the bewildering variety of cultures and landscapes along the track. In an art-driven Master´s thesis Magdalena Nagler investigated the soil along the route from Innsbruck to Laos by taking daily samples from the thread of the bicycle tires that were pedaled from Innsbruck to Laos by the science-and-art-inspired sportsman Wolfgang Burtscher.
